Get Ready…April is Stress Awareness Month

Spring is upon us. It’s time to dust off winter, take a deep breath, and ready ourselves for a new season. It can be a busy time of year, but don’t stress. No, really, don't stress! Stress is a natural negative reaction in your mind and body to challenges. And while it can positively motivate you to get through certain obstacles, it can also wreak havoc on your physical and mental health.

You can't escape stress, but you can change how you deal with it. When you're faced with anxiety:

  • Take a deep breath and focus on why you're actually feeling this way.

  • Take a walk or do any exercise where you can think about the situation and how to handle it without blowing up, figuratively and literally.

  • Be proactive and schedule regular massage appointments. Massage has been shown to reduce stress significantly on physical and psychological levels.

Never forget, I'm here for you!

Aromatherapy Massage

An aromatherapy massage is a Swedish massage with scented plant oils (known as essential oils) added to the massage oil. Extracted from flowers and other plant parts, essential oils offer a pleasing scent and are believed to have healing properties. Lavender and rose, for instance, are known to promote relaxation. The soothing effects of aromatherapy massage can benefit a variety of conditions, including STRESS, headaches, insomnia, certain digestive disorders, back pain, and even premenstrual symptoms. Your referral must schedule within that time frame, keep their appointment, and mention your name, in order to be eligible. WHOLE BODY VIBRATION Covid messing with your workout routine?? I am excited to introduce Whole Body Vibration, WBV, now available at Therapeutic Tranquility! I am going to be completely honest.... I REALLY like this machine!! I seriously considered leaving it at home for my personal use! I have tried all settings and have used the bands that it came with. I LOVE it!!! Even though you only use it for 10 minutes at a time, it feels AMAZING!!! In 10 minutes, I can burn 178 calories, not counting the excercises I do while standing on it! I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Studies have shown that WBV is beneficial for reducing pain, increasing balance, toning the body, and even weight loss. The vibration causes the muscles to activate to maintain your balance. The Rumblex model that I purchased has up/down oscillation, side-to-side lateral movement, pulsation, and the ability to combine all 3 movements. It also has 60 speed settings for your own unique workout. There are 3 preset programs, manual mode, resistance bands, mini-bands, and Bluetooth. Combine all that together and you have a great work-out! All programs are only 10 minutes in length, as it is equivalent to an hour in the gym. Monthly membership, which consists of unlimited monthly use of WBV, will be $50. For single sessions, it will be $7 per session. It is advised to use WBV 3x a week, 10 minutes each. Each session does need to be scheduled in advance. I will be offering everyone one free trial session! COVID MASKS ARE REQUIRED! If the new variant that is more contagious is found in Washington, I will also begin using a face shield, in addition to the other precautions I take. This virus affects everyone differently and I can not take the chance of getting sick and having to take off work, let alone if I experience lasting symptoms of fatigue and would be unable to work. Just a reminder that I do ask that if you are experiencing ANY symptoms of illness, PLEASE reschedule with me! As always, I take your health and safety seriously. I have an air purifier, everything gets Lysol wiped/sprayed down after each massage, and I utilize my UV sanitizer. I change my shirt after each client as well, and I wear a mask and have masks available for your use as well. I am not using a blanket, but please feel free to bring in your own. Please visit my website for more information about what I am doing to minimize your risk of getting COVID when receiving massage. Back to Top.

Winter Time Blues

Spring is almost here. But at this time of year, many people are experiencing some winter blues. WebMD reviewed more than a dozen studies that revealed how massage can fight depression by lowering cortisol levels.

Cortisol is the body's response to stress, and massage therapy lowers it by as much as 50%. At the same time, massage provides many benefits and can also increase the levels of serotonin and dopamine, which are both neurotransmitters that help stabilize your mood.

If you or someone you love is experiencing the winter blues, schedule a massage today and help get through this last push before spring. Back to Top.
